Dramaturgy:

Welcome to 'Q', the UK Student Exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial 2023.

'Q' is a performance installation that delves into the depths of liminal spaces and purgatory, exploring the universal theme of waiting.

The concept of 'The Waiting Room' holds a universal appeal, resonating with individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their place or country. 'Q' incorporates the local community, through the distribution of ‘rare moments’ creating an inclusive space that allows visitors to connect with the installation, PQ, and the wider locality of the market and Prague. Coming from the UK, a nation we believe to be looking inwards, we wanted to use our 5x5m space to look outwards, and engage with the wider world on an international stage.

'Q' explores the multifaceted dimensions of waiting. We encourage the audience to observe and experience the interplay between individuals and the systems they navigate, capturing the frustration, anticipation, and moments of quiet contemplation that arise from the act of waiting.

With ‘Q’, the waiting room is more than just a physical space; it becomes a state of mind. It is a reflection of the human condition, where time seems to stand still, and our aspirations and desires are put on hold. Yet, even within the confines of bureaucracy and administration, we find possibilities for connection and transformation.

We encourage you to open your senses to the power of collective experience, and let 'Q' take you on a journey that will linger in your thoughts long after you leave the installation.

What are you waiting for? Join the Q.
