Bakery 164.

Personal note : Bakery 164 is the bakery next to the University of Leeds. I wanted to make a miniature set after a long time for this place upon graduation and my association to it with my master’s life chapter having come to an end. With my school being always associated with a ‘Besant bakery’ and my Undergraduate college with a coffee shop nearby or my tuition Centre with the ice cream store below. I noticed a link often with places such as shops or cafes opposite to a place of institution as a sort of fortress. My importance has been mostly placed in design terms - physically on the opposite side of the road.

In this project I made made a 3D miniature although imms not pit ct but taught me a lot. I started by deciding that instead of a 4 wall model, I wanted to try making a triangular set instead. As I made this design it made me realize the importance of working physically and how that gives you more perspectives on how you can accommodate space and utilize it. I realized this triangular set model if bought to stage productions or theatre can help demonstrate and accommodate buildings and door entrances to locations of narrative without consuming too much space and can this adjacently placed triangles now making a Trapezium like shape can be rotated for a completely different set on the other face.

This made look into the productions that have had employed this.

I came across Periaktos or plural Periaktoi. Which are very much like kaleidoscopes of set design or design advancing quick changes and minimal space.

This project taught me how triangles and prisms can be kaleidoscopes of space, accommodating hidden space.
