+ Further Developments from the table top.

Branching from my interest for the Dining table. The mundaneness of objects & spaces - its varying meanings of existence or intention has an interesting quality. It is not new that several works of art from the simplicity of the table in Van Gogh's work to the Last Supper by Da Vinci, use tables. I wanted to explore the use of stationary objects that are typically just props, reconstructing their identity through design for performance.

For the 'Final Supper' the table is a stage for the participant' interaction, it is lit with focus light setting this prop as stage itself. What seems to be cutlery seems to be laid out on the table, which are actually touch interactive devices that contribute to the dramaturgy. The Table that is normally a point of gathering, that is open and welcoming shifts into this dystopian alternate reality where Ceramics, Metal, Wires converge.

I wanted to work with cutlery and dining not only to set the tone for this 'Dystopian dinner' but found cutlery to carry a quality that created a lot of reverb and resonance even in our daily lives.

This realization came from multiple attempts at trying to wash vessels without letting them clash as they seemed to be the big sources of noise, when in contact, the sound always made my muscles tense. This connectivity of the kinesthetic nature of cutlery acting as holders of sound devices, in an empty room justified itself as an ASMR rich environment to me.

What is expected of table to engage the senses of gustation or olfaction is absent here with the absence of food material. The outcome here is only sound.

I would also like to draw from a similar air of clish clash. Example the monotony of Queuing or waiting in a waiting room is tested and replaced with dynamics in a performance for Prague Quadrennial 2023 of which I am one in a team of curators. In the former mentioned performance, rather than an object a mundane 'space' or waiting room is transformed. Another space example would be the University 'Fruity Friday' Silent Disco.  A disco normally to me is an atmosphere for loud deafening noise, Dysconnectivity and Fleeting now suddenly swapped with the silence of all the people on their own headphones making the space feel Intimate, memorable and with time Slowed-down even without the headphones you could hear sounds of people singing softly, which contrasted the strobing lights and the normal mundane implications of a disco, that I found very interesting.

The above table's setup for the performance drew from my visit to Julie rose bowers' ASMR exhibit in the london design museum and having also mentored by Julie in her Individual ASMR and sound workshops have contributed greatly in not just how I have worked with sound but the performative quality sound and asmr has 'standalone'.
