Project description:

An Alternate miniature set rendition for the film; Memoirs of a geisha.

The set and the project is historically and culturally relevant to the setting of the film and shows the importance of research that goes behind the scenic design and creative direction of a film.

The Movie is set in WW2 Japan, so the project also contains research for accurate cultural and historical representation in terms of Architecture, hair, makeup, costume and the creative direction; which was amiss in the film.

The Project has 3 sets:

1.Chashitsu (Japanese Tea house)- Landscape set

2. The geisha's room (Interior set)

3. The Okiya House (Geisha residency)- Exterior structure set.

With Rendition of 3 sets:

1 Landscape, 1 Interior and

1 Exterior structure, it shows an alternate depiction of the production design of the film

"Memoirs of a Geisha'

Set in Kyoto pre-world war 2

Japan showcasing the life of

a Geisha.

As much as the film was praised, it was critiqued for its culturally inaccurate misrepresentation.

This project research aims at the cultural and historical depiction of Information.
